![]() Controllers like the Numark Mixtrack Pro or the Pioneer DDJ SB can be used with Serato Lite (formerly Serato Intro) for free, but in order to use Serato DJ Pro, the license is required. There are controllers or mixers that require the paid license in order to unlock the full version of Serato DJ Pro. This means you can borrow a friend’s DDJ SX2, download Serato DJ Pro for free off the website (and any necessary drivers) and plug into the controller and play with the full version of Serato. Any laptop or computer can download Serato DJ Pro for free, plug into the controller, and get access to the full Serato DJ Pro program without having to pay the $99USD for the license. Plug and play hardware does not require a paid license to use and instead uses the hardware as a “dongle” to unlock the full version of the software. There are 2 classes of Serato gear you can purchase: one that is plug and play, and one that requires a paid licence. Traktor or Rekordbox DJ requires a license across the board - even with hardware that comes with the program for free (it comes boxed with a license code), whereas Serato has a little more complex system they utilize. So I've been seeing a lot of confusion regarding how Serato DJ licenses work and seeing people buying licenses for gear that doesn't require it, or expecting gear that does require it to work just because they own another piece of Serato compatible gear. ![]() ![]() ![]() New and looking for advice? /r/Beatmatch.r/Beatmatch - for learning to DJ! /r/Controllerism /r/DJsCirclejerk /r/DJSetups /r/EDMproduction /r/Mixes /r/MobileDJ /r/RotaryMixers /r/SoundSystem /r/Turntablists /r/VinylDJs /r/VJing /r/WeAreTheMusicMakers /r/WhiteLabelsĬommunityWalk Map - Map of r/DJs members! > Unofficial DJs Discord <- Also check out PLEASE REPORT posts and comments that violate the above rules or just suck.
